Italy divided in two:: growth not integrated in the north and south
Maximum attention to the development and improvement of the quality of life in the South, also by drawing on European funding. This is the mission for the South of Minister Beppe Provenzano.
This is the priority of growth of a part of the territory which, historically in chronic economic and social delay, risks to outline in 2028 a paradoxical scenario of dualism with respect to the North.
Not only the economy and internal growth suffer from this dyscrasia. The perception of security also penalizes southern Italy. Even if robberies, snatches and violence continue to occur in greater numbers than the North.
North which boasts a higher population growth, with a far more complex birth / mortality ratio than in the South, also due to internal and international immigration.
In fact, the abandonment of the native land is much greater in the South, where the population in 2019 according to Istat has significantly reduced. Reaching almost 129,000 units, exceeding that of the entire Peninsula which settles around 116,000 people.
The population in the North grows, while the South becomes abandoned and insecure land. Where economic development is struggling to take off, and the perception of quality of life is even more negative. With the exponential increase in cases of genetic and oncological diseases.
Sea, sun and fantasy are no longer enough. The deficit demographic parallelism in the South – on the contrary – is likely to have a dramatic impact on the political relevance and weight at parliamentary level in the coming years.
Life expectancy also worsens in the South and will decrease from one year to one and a half years less than in the north in 2028. Just as civilian life is destined to deteriorate with the halving of graduates in the South compared to the North according to projections analytical.
North which greatly benefits from the influx of young southern graduates between 29 and 35 years old, which recently rose from 31% to 35%. As well as the average per capita income which in the South in the 1970s touched 64% and today has decreased to just 55%.
Raising a family and having a child, even if it is a complex ambition for northern young people, becomes a chimera for southern people. Impossible to have certainties and create the profitable conditions to make a serene family nucleus sprout.
The differences that condition a dual and asymmetrical development between the North and South of the country are dramatically a symptom of a state historically incapable of creating harmonious synergies. And they could become an index of irremediable fractures of two-speed Italy in the (near) future.
